課程概述

Course Description:

As suggested by its title, the major objective of this course is to introduce to students, based upon the theories and principles of second language learning and teaching, actual classroom teaching methods and materials in various skill areas. This will be achieved by (and not limited to):
1. discussing and developing a personal philosophy of education;
2. providing a perspective on the major approaches, methods, techniques, and materials for teaching English as a second or foreign language;
3. getting familiarized with the major professional journals in TESL/TEFL and other related fields; for a suggested list, refer to the separate hand-out;
4. (if can be arranged) attending guest-lectures given by experienced junior/senior high school English teachers; and
5. conducting group lesson plan projects, a vital part in our training to become professionals; for details, see separate hand-outs.
